Nordstrom Credit Card

Nordstrom’s is a popular department store, one that sells the most recent trends of high quality.  For people who love shopping at this store, the Nordstrom credit card is an excellent way of making purchases.  The benefit of this particular card is that along with being able to make purchases from Nordstrom, the card is also designed as a rewards card.  That means when merchandise is bought, points are earned, and as they accumulate, they can be traded in for various rewards.

The way the Nordstrom credit card works is that for every $1 spent at a Nordstrom’s store, Nordstrom Rack Store, or even at the website of Nordstrom.com, you would earn two points.  With this card, no cap exists as to the number of points you could earn.  Then, after you have accumulated 2,000 points with the Nordstrom credit card, you will automatically be mailed a gift certificate for $20.  If you were to spend $1,500 with the Nordstrom credit card then you would be provided with access to various events such as fashion shows, in-store events, special sales, etc.  Then, for every $1 spent at these special events, you would earn 10 points that could be spent on items from the Nordstrom catalog.

Another benefit of using the Nordstrom credit card is that no annual fee applies.  Interestingly, approval for this particular credit card is based on several different levels, each consisting of different factors.  However, the primary indicator whether you would be approved for a Nordstrom credit card or denied is credit.  For this reason, it would be to your advantage to order a copy of your credit reports six months to one year prior to applying for this or any other credit card so corrections could be made.

As far as interest, this ranges from the prime rate plus 0%, 3.9%, 6.9%, 10.9%, and 14.9%.  The way the monthly balances of the Nordstrom credit card is calculated, which covers new purchases, would be to use the average daily balance method.  For payment schedule, you would be provided a full 25 days for the grace period, which is beneficial since most other department store credit cards only provide 20.  Although you want to get your payment in on time every month, if you were faced with a situation of it being late, the 25 days would be a nice cushion.

Without doubt, the Nordstrom credit card has some great features and benefits that are simply not offered in most cases.  Therefore, if you love shopping at this department store and would like a way of saving money, then securing a credit card would be ideal.  The one recommendation we would make is that if you were to apply for the standard Nordstrom credit card, this would be the only store where the card could be used.  However, if you secure the Platinum Visa offered by Nordstrom, you would be able to shop at Nordstrom’s but also any merchant that accepts Visa.

With a variety of interest rates, which are determined by your credit score and other factors, the special events, unlimited points, and convenience, the Nordstrom credit card is something that many people enjoy.  Overall, there are no negative aspects of the card but again, we do suggest you consider the Platinum Visa over the conventional Nordstrom credit card.
